TEXAS BLUE BONNET

1939 Grulla Stallion

Texas Blue Bonnet sired many good horses for the Hayes brothers. Texas Blue Bonnet certainly was on of the best, and one of his sons, Plenty Coup, was an outstanding sire that Hyde borrowed from the Hayes brothers from time to time to use on the Merritt Ranch mares. The horse was a colorful light buckskin with a bald face, and the Merritts got some good geldings and fillies by him. ~~ Story courtesy of HancockHorses.com

The last breeding son of Blue Valentine, Leo Hancock Hayes left his mark on the industry much the same way as his sire. Nearly all of his 500+ foals were used for ranch work and rodeo. Although this makes for little official AQHA record, this bloodline is one of the most sought after today for performance horses. Leo Hancock Hayes also produced more than 50% roans out of his 500+ foal crop!
